Drafted into the Marine Corps, Derl Horn served with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines—known as “The Walking Dead.” On July 2, 1967, his company was caught in an ambush during Operation Buffalo.
His memoir tells the story of that day and the life around it: training, friendship, the horrors of war, and the family and faith that helped him through.
